Variety Club Golf Day On Thursday 24th June 2010, Ponteland hosted the above event.Good weather helped but the day was a huge success with a significant sum of money (over £4000) raised for local children's charities. Already we are looking to host their 2011 event. Other Charity days include: Newcastle Heroes St Oswald's Hospice NSPCC HSBC The Children's Foundation New Secretary at Ponteland! Greg Waugh has expanded his role at Ponteland Golf Club and is now the Club’s official Secretary/Treasurer. Chris Espiner has taken on the role as his assistant. The third member of the Ponteland office team is Nikki Marriner who administers all aspects of the Club’s web site. The site has recently been awarded national recognition through the GCMA and is well worth a look. (www.thepontelandgolfclub.co.uk) All these changes and very many others come about following a thorough ‘root & branches’ staffing review at Ponteland which started on Chris’s appointment in 2007. The office support for members has been totally overhauled and greater use made of the Club’s expanding IT systems. Clubhouse staffing has also been subject to review and change and Ponteland’s Committee (highlighted in this magazine as recently as 2008) are to be praised for their continuing drive and enthusiasm. The Committee now work to a flexible 3 year rolling programme in all aspects of its work shared out under 3 headings, Greens, Admin & Clubhouse. Greg has had to relinquish his Secretary role at Gosforth (The Bridlepath) but is to maintain some degree of continuity by continuing to use his skills as their Treasurer. Greg’s replacement as Secretary at Gosforth has (at the time of printing) yet to be announced. Greg said “Chris & I have worked hard to get Ponteland to the stage whereby we can make these changes. We now have an efficient office working for the members. As other Golf Club Secretaries will know only too well, change is often hard to implement but the current economic climate has driven much of our agenda over the last 2 or 3 years. Naturally I am sad to be leaving Gosforth but I am not severing all my ties with them and I obviously wish them all the best. I have enjoyed a lot of support at Gosforth both from the Committee and the members. Chris has done a great job with Ponteland’s admin and I am grateful for that. I am also really happy that he is staying on as my assistant…and my weekly golf partner! Ponteland golf club rightly holds the reputation as being one of the best in the County & I am keen to play my part in us moving forward even further”.
Ponteland Golf Club Annual Subscription Renewal “Pursuant to Article 24, a Member whose subscription in respect of any financial year is not paid before 1st June is not qualified to play at Ponteland or represent Ponteland Golf Club until the matter is resolved.” Your help in this matter is appreciated. Thank You. Greg Waugh, Secretary/Treasurer May 31st 2010
